Commentary on: Social Determinants of Health: What Every Pediatric Surgeon Should Know

Abstract

In this edition of the Journal, Drs Cockrell, Shah, Krinock, and colleagues from the American Pediatric Surgical Association Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion provide a review of Health Disparities Research. The JPS readership will find this paper well worth reading. The descriptions of measuring and then publishing disparities data is followed by sections on critically evaluating disparities research and the aspirational desire to “move beyond detection and understanding” towards summarizing “Strategies for facilitating an interventional approach in health equity research…”.
