In brief

This Dutch single-center study examines nephron-sparing surgery outcomes for Wilms tumor patients following centralization of pediatric oncology services. The research demonstrates improved surgical results through increased institutional experience and the integration of 3D modeling technology for preoperative planning.

  • Centralization of pediatric oncology care in the Netherlands improved surgical outcomes for nephron-sparing surgery in Wilms' tumor patients.
  • 3D modeling technology enhanced surgical planning and execution for pediatric renal tumor resection.
  • Increased surgical experience and technological innovations directly correlate with better nephron-sparing surgery outcomes.
  • Nephron-sparing approaches are increasingly feasible in Wilms' tumor management when supported by specialized centers and advanced imaging.
  • Retrospective analysis demonstrates measurable benefits of concentrating complex pediatric oncologic surgery in high-volume centers.
